In addition to the many fine homes designed by Ecole des Beaux-Arts educated Jacques Jules Benedict for Denver families like the Kohn’s, Weckbaugh’s, Kerr’s, Cramner’s, and Waring’s, Benedict is also greatly recognized for his commercial work.  Central Savings Bank, Divine Science Church, Washington Park Boating Pavilion, and the great interior beauty of the Church of the Holy Ghost and the Chapel at St. Thomas’ Seminary are but a few examples.  Benedict’s schools include Park Hill Elementary and the fine Gothic-collegiate style school he designed in the Rosedale neighborhood in 1924.

Closed by Denver Public Schools due to budget constraints in 2005, Rosedale Elementary sits dormant, patiently awaiting a new vision.  Please join us as Interim Director of DPS Facilities, architect Sam Miller, takes Columns & Coffee on a tour of this handsome, historic building.
