A WORKSHOP
IN CLASSICAL ARCHITECTURE
The ICAA Workshop in Classical Architecture introduces classical architecture as a living language to encourage literacy with the enduring forms which shape our built environment. The program begins with architectural case studies that show how the classical tradition continues to inform the design of new buildings and places today. In part two, the grammar, syntax, and proportional relationships of the classical canon are explored through freehand drawings of the classical orders, and application exercises that show how to adapt the classical language to an architectural composition.
Participation in the program fulfills part of the required coursework for the ICAA Certificate in Classical Architecture.
If you have attended an ICAA Workshop before and are seeking more advanced instruction, alternative exercises will be available. If interested, please contact Edith Platten at eplatten@classicist.org or 212-730-9646 ext. 113.
